Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist

The Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist to be filled in the Facilities Department at the Whiteriver Service Unit, Whiteriver, Arizona. The Incumbent will provide clinical engineering services; promote safety/effective use of resources in the delivery of healthcare. The Incumbent be familiar of technology application; technical consultation along with patient care equipment. The Incumbent will work under the supervision of the Facilities Department Supervisor. Provide technical guidance to entry-level equipment support specialists or administrative support specialists and assist the supervisor and/or other managers within the Facilities Program in identifying the incumbent's training needs and the training needs of others related to medical equipment management. Interprets, selects, adapts, and applies various guidelines, precedents, and engineering principals, which relate to electro medical instrumentation. Analyze, develop, design, modify,plan, install, evaluate, and correct system malfunctions on complex patient care systems that have vitally interrelated, and sometimes dispersed subsystems. Management of available resources in the implementation of the Medical Equipment Management Program. Formulates methods and techniques to perform scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance to assure operational safety of patient related devices. Incumbent is responsible for calibration and performance of entire complex patient care systems, made up of several subsystems. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-1601-09:
Applicants who meet at least one of the following may qualify for positions at this grade level. Have (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
Examples include:
installing, maintaining, overhauling, repairing, and testing a variety of medical equipment used for patient diagnoses and treatment. this work requires a knowledge and application of mechanical, electrical, and electronic principles and circuitry, the ability to determine malfunctions, and the skill to repair and maintain a variety of medical, laboratory, and dental equipment. Equipment used at this level are more electronically sophisticated such a defibrillators and CAT scanners; OR Two full years of graduate education leading to a Master's degree or that is directly related to the work of the position such as engineering; OR Possess a combination of the specialized experience, the total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for the GS-09 grade level. (Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the GS-07 grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS-9 and GS-11) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-1601-11:

Examples include:
Repair, calibration and preventive maintenance of sophisticated medical and dental equipment; experience in selection, installation, modification, testing, and evaluation of medical and dental equipment; providing documentation, consultative and instruction services to medical and dental staff, and administrative personnel; experience with Healthcare Technology Management equipment statutory regulations, maintaining compliance and accreditation. Completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or (3) full years (54 semester hours) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Possess a combination of the specialized experience, the total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for the GS-11 grade level. (Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the GS-07 grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS-9 and GS-11) You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
