Provide leadership and serves as an advocate for Indian patients in the effective utilization of alternate resources such as Medicare, Medicaid, Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), Bureau of Employment Compensation (BEC), Third Party Liability, Children's Special Health Service, Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFCD), etc. Assures maximal identification of person who have, or are eligible for alternate resources, implementing screening, referring and interview methods effectively. Work with Patient Registration, Purchased Referred Care, Third Party and other disciplines in screening for potential eligible patients that may assist in developing registers of eligible through current activities related to determining the health status of the patients or alternate resources. Assist patients with application for alternate resources and interpretation of rules and regulation. Provide continuous updates and maintain eligibility database, generate alternate resources date and keep abreast of changes in rules and regulations alternate resources and to share the changes with working disciplines and patients. To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS- 0962-07:
At least (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following types of tasks:

Served as an advocate for patients regarding eligibility requirement of alternate resources such as Medicare, Medicaid, Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), Social Security Supplement Income (SSI), State Medicaid Programs. Asist patients by interviewing, explaining, and collecting date for alternate resource applications and follow up on pending or denial of claims. Provide continuous research and advocate on behalf of patients regarding current health care laws, regulations, policies and procedures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-0962-08:
At least (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following types of tasks:
Examples of specialized experience include:
Advising patients of non-payment or approval of claim, compile and write reports, contact alternate resources to explore reasons for adverse decision, the possibility of reconsideration for appeal, complete contacts independently that include review of complex records, reconstruction of involved transactions, analysis of precedent decisions. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements:
Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
